Welcome to the May 2009 Edition 22 of the Online Newsletter for The Australian Storytelling Guild (NSW) Inc.

A great afternoon was had at our first Tellers Tea for 2009.  Tellers included Christine Greenough, John Hockney, Annie Eyres and a new member Beryl Ayres told a wonderful Chinese dragon story with great aplomb.  Also in the open mic session Robert Blatch gave a delightful rendition of a poem by Bertram Russell.

 

Exciting news – the NSW Guild has at last got an Archivist!!! Many thanks to Annie Eyres for undertaking this vital role for the Guild now in its 15th year.

The Guild recognises that all storytellers are keen to keep improving their skills so we are delighted to have Master Storyteller Ken Benn come all the way from New Zealand to help us achieve this aim.  It is always best too for beginners to be introduced to excellence early in their storytelling career.  So – make sure you don’t miss out on this unique experience.

Cost - $20 which includes Devonshire Tea.  Pay at door – doors open 1.30pm.

 

JUNE

Saturday June 20 - Storytelling Workshop with Jo Henwood at the WEA, 72 Bathurst Street, Sydney.  9.30am – 4.30pm.  Learn communication skills to work storytelling magic, not just for children but in any field which entertains, educates, heals or persuades.  Cost:  $99; Conc $89. Sunday 21 June – Tellers Tea – Stories to warm the heart with Ebba Bodame and Christine Carlton plus open mic.

12.30 – 1.30pm – Traditional stone soup story with Christine Carlton and choice of soups for lunch

1.30pm – 4.00pm – Workshop – Storytelling with Props with Kiran Shah
